Adhikaar participated in the first Nepali Women's Conference organized by NWGN at the University of Connecticut at Storrs, CT, on August 9th.
Adhikaar had a the biggest and most diverse contingent that included staff, board, interns, and adult and youth members. For most of the participants, this was the first conference experience.
Adhikaar Board Chair Malabika Das talked about human trafficking during luncheon, and also led a workshop on domestic violence. Executive Director Luna Ranjit presented the findings from Adhikaar's ongoing community needs assessment project, and during the evening plenary spoke about building bridges, and emphasized the need to look beyond the Nepali community and learn from and create partnerships with other immigrant communities.
